Rockets fall
FORT WAYNE — Walks and errors cost the Portland Rockets on Thursday as they lost 14-13 to Northeast Kekionga.
Portland had a huge day at the plate against Indiana Tech’s summer team, hitting four home runs. But they gave up 12 free bases on walks and committed seven errors as they fell behind 14-5 through six innings.
The Rockets rallied and had a chance to pull even on a Chandler Ingle single in the top of the ninth inning, but Brett Funk was thrown out at the plate.
Dalton Tinsley paced the offense for Portland, which dropped to 11-4, with a pair of home runs as part of his three-hit effort. Jagen Millspaugh and Zach Tanner also went deep in the game and finished with three hits apiece.
Colin Affolder, a South Adams High School graduate, and Mitch Waters, a Jay County High School graduate, each totaled two hits.
The Rockets will return to action Saturday against the Mishawaka Brewers in the Carrington July 4 Tournament.
