Swine CFO tops building permits

A $1.8 million confined swine feeding operation in rural Dunkirk topped building permits issued by the Jay/Portland Building and Planning office in June.
Eric and Jani Siegrist are constructing two confined feeding buildings and a compost building in the 1000 North section of county road 1100 West.
In all, new constructed issued permits in June totaled more than $3.3 million.

Earnings up
First Financial Bancorp reported second quarter earnings of $22.6 million, up 20 percent from the same quarter a year ago. It was the Cincinnati-based holding company’s 103rd consecutive profitable quarter.
Network lunch

New hire
Citizens State Bank, which has a branch in Dunkirk, has hired Ginger R. Rice as senior vice president and chief human resources officer.
A graduate of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, she holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in communication.
She has several years of executive level human resources experience in the financial services field. She resides in Fishers.
Warehouse closing
The Marsh supermarket chain announced this week it will be closing its warehouse operation in Yorktown. About 72 people are employed at the Yorktown site. An Indianapolis warehouse will also be closed as a result of a change in the company’s supply chain system.
New investment
Pretzels Inc. of Bluffton announced this week it will invest $7 million in improvements at its plant there.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The plant employs more than 330 and has an annual payroll of more than $14.3 million.
