Nonsupport of a dependent
Esteban Sargent, 31, Dunkirk, pleaded guilty to two counts of nonsupport of a dependent child, a Level 6 felony.
For the first count, Sargent was sentenced July to 2.5 years in Jay County Jail with all but 204 days suspended and was given 204 days credit for 104 days served. He was assessed costs of $183 and ordered to pay restitution to the State of Indiana in the sum of $300 and Brandi Garlinger in the sum of $17,844.46. He is to attend and pay $150 for “Moral Recognition Therapy” and placed on formal probation for 26 months.
For the second count, he was sentenced to 2.5 years in Jay County Jail to be served concurrent with the first count. He was ordered to pay restitution to state of Indiana the in amount of $1,209.30 and to Jennifer McCord in the amount of $12,606.

Theft
James R. Croucher, 44, Plainfield, pleaded guilty to charge of theft, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced July 20 to one year in Jay County Jail and was fined $100 as well as assessed court costs of $183.
