Film to be shown Thursday on WIPB-TV
Taking Note
The film “Now Entering Portland” will be shown at 8 p.m. Thursday on Ball State University’s WIPB-TV, channel 49.
The film includes interviews with Portland residents, photos and videos.
At Swiss Village
Swiss Village in Berne will host Saturday Night at the Village from 7 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
The Swiss Village Singers, directed by resident and former Adams Central Elementary teacher Mary Amstutz, will provide free entertainment in the auditorium. There will be hymns, gospel music, a men’s octet and women’s sextet and trumpet and trombone music.

Also Swiss Village will participate in nationwide Longest Day activities on June 20, the longest day of the year.
The Alzheimer’s Association chose that day as a reminder of the challenging journey those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers have.
A walk will take place around Swiss Village from 6 to 10 a.m. and free exercise classes will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Arthur & Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion.

Farmers market
The first farmers’ market of the season will be held from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday around the Jay County Courthouse.
Any vendor wanting to set up will be charged a one time marketing fee of $10. Vendors can have one to two parking spaces on a first-come-first-serve basis to sell healthy products that have been grown close to home by friends and neighbors.

The American Red Cross is partnering with Nexcare Bandages and supermodel Niki Taylor to urge blood donation in honor of World Blood Donor Day on June 14.
Blood drives in the area will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on June 13 at Bryant Wesleyan Church, 209 S. Hendricks St., and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 14 at Jay Community Center in Portland.
Drives will also be held from noon until 4 p.m. on July 8 at Church of the Nazarene, 1402 W. Water St. in Hartford City, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 24 at St. Vincent Hospital, 473 E. Greenville Ave. in Winchester.
