Three-car collision
Three drivers were involved in a crash at 7:19 p.m. Friday at the intersection of U.S. 27 North and Industrial Park Drive.
Sally A. Haines, 64, 2115 N. U.S. 27, Portland, told a Portland police officer she was sitting at the red light at the intersection and when she looked out of her 2005 Jeep Liberty rear view mirror she saw a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado about to hit her vehicle.
The truck’s owner, Larry E. Schmidt, 73, 6367 E. 800 North, Bryant, said he was about to stop at the red light when his Chevrolet was hit from behind by a 2011 Chrysler Town & Country, which caused his vehicle to strike the Jeep in front of him.
Janice S. Hudson, 69, 9 Sesame St., Portland, said she is not sure if she looked away or not but remembered looking up in her Chrysler before crashing into the truck.
Damage is estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
