Jay Co. tankers top Celina by 60
Summer swimmers move to 2-0 in dual meets
CELINA, Ohio — Four swimmers each won three events Monday as the Jay County Summer Swim Team defeated Celina, 330-270.
Jay County was first in 27 of the 52 individual races and 11 of the 20 relays in moving to 2-0 on the season.
Sophie Saxman and Hannah Laux were both three-event winners in the 9-10-year-old girls division. Saxman was first in the 25-meter freestyle, 25 butterfly and 100 individual medley. Laux earned victories in the 50 freestyle, 25 backstroke and 25 breaststroke.
Mara Bader and Elayna Paro also won a trio of events in the 11-12-year-old girls division. Paro beat her competitors in the 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke while Bader finished first in the 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 IM.
Swimmers winning two events apiece were Maddy Snow, Ben Nichols, Sophie Bader, Anne Vormohr and Sok Vormohr.
Snow won the 25 freestyle and 25 butterfly races in the 8-and-younger age group. Nichols took first in the 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke of the 11-12-year-old age group, and in the 15-and-older age group Bader won the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke. In the same age group, Anne Vormohr earned victories in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, and Sok Vormohr won the 100 butterfly and 200 IM.
Earning single victories were Sophie Hoevel (8-and-younger) in the 25 backstroke, Doran Beiswanger (11-12-year-old) in the 50 freestyle), Eliza Bader (13-14-year-old) in the 50 butterfly, Juan Pablo Wiggins (13-14-year-old) in the 100 freestyle and Alex Bader (15-and-older) in the 100 freestyle.
