Huffman hit for the cycle, drove in four runs and scored five times as Pioneer Packaging moved to 11-0 on the season with a 21-3 victory over Pak-A-Sak in Portland Junior League’s Rookie baseball division.
Max Dues contributed three doubles, a single and two RBIs in the victory. Xavien Maxwell added two RBIs on a double and two singles, and Jayden?Comer smacked a half dozen singles while also notching two RBIs.
Freddie Lingo led Pak-A-Sak in the losing effort by hitting a triple and a single. Braden O’Brien, Eli Stockton, Cooper Reynolds, Kadyn Carpenter, Caleb Sibray and Trevor Jones each had one hit.
Fisher, Lions tie
Fisher Meats and Lions Club played to an 8-8 tie Tuesday in PJL’s Minor softball division.
Maddy Wenk led Lions Club with three hits, including a double, while driving in two RBIs and scoring once. Reba Wendel had two singles, and Dakota Chowning chipped in with a double and a single to go with her three runs scored.
Alexis Kelly, Tessa Miller, Laci McGinnis, Zoe Romine and Brenna Bailey each had one hit.
Lauren Brewster had two hits to leads Fisher. Adriene Denney and Paige Ingram both had one hit and scored once.
Lodge splits twin bill
Masonic Lodge and Jay County Monument split a doubleheader Tuesday in Portland Junior League’s Major softball division.
Masonic Lodge won the first game 13-9, and Jay County Monument earned an 18-14 victory.
Kelsey Burden paced the Masonic offense with five singles and a double on the evening. Rieley Brewster and Justice Day tallied two singles apiece.
Gwen Butcher ripped a double for Graphic, which also got two hits from Hannah Clayton.
Shelby Hiestand, Natalie Miles, Ashley Camara, Jacqueline Smith, Lexie Ferguson, Tricia Ison and Jayden Claytor had one hit apiece.
Fort falls, 14-1
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery ACME baseball team dropped below .500 with a 14-1 loss in five innings Tuesday to the Celina Bulldogs.
The Indians (2-3) gave up five runs in the second inning to trail 5-1, but the Bulldogs plated another five runs in the third to break the game open. Celina added another four in the top of the fourth inning.
Kody Shinaberry shouldered the loss, giving up eight earned runs in 2 1/3 innings. Evan Post and Preston Hoying each allowed three earned runs in relief.
Garret Faller had an RBI single for the Indians, who also got hits from both Jared Timmerman and Hunter Boughman.
