FORT RECOVERY — The Eels got their first win of the season.
They set five new records in the process.
Five swimmers combined to set five pool records Thursday as the Fort Recovery Eels defeated the St. Henry Stingrays, 660-585, at Ambassador Pool.
Cassidy Martin, who just completed her freshman year at Fort Recovery High School, had her hand in three of them. She joined Sophie Timmerman, Cori Stone and Alexis Bubp in the 15-and-older 200-yard medley relay. They finished with a time of 2 minutes, 16.73 seconds.
Martin also set new pool marks in the 50 backstroke (34.41 seconds) and the 50 breaststroke (39.44). She added a victory in the 100 individual medley.
Bubp, who will be a junior, also etched her name in the record book with a time of 32.67 seconds in the 50 butterfly. She earned a victory in the 50 freestyle as well.
Teigan Fortkamp broke the pool record in the 9-10-year-old 50 freestyle in 34.24 seconds and also picked up victories in the 100 IM and 25 freestyle.
Other triple-event winners for the Eels were Kyra Clark (11-12-year-old), Paige Fortkamp (13-14-year-old), Nolan Thobe (15-and-older), Noah Homan (15-and-older), Jacob Acheson (13-14-year-old) and Ava Bubp (13-14-year-old).
Clark picked up victories in the 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 50 backstroke; Fortkamp finished first in the 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle; Thobe was fastest in the 50 butterfly, 100 IM and 50 breaststroke; Homan placed first in the 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle; Acheson beat the competition in the 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 50 freestyle; and Bubp won the 50 butterfly, 100 IM and 50 breaststroke.
Mitchell Pugh was the other double winner with Alexis Bubp. He won both the 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly in the 13-14-year-old division.
Single-event winners included Grant Fortkamp (8-and-younger – 50 freestyle), Cori Stone (15-and-older – 100 freestyle), Joscie LeFevre (9-10-year-old – 25 butterfly), Sage Wendel (9-10-year-old – 100 IM), Autumn Leuthold (8-and-younger – 25 breaststroke), Gabe Acheson (8-and-younger – 25 breaststroke), Makenna Huelskamp (8-and-younger – 25 freestyle), and Audra Bubp (11-12-year-old – 50 freestyle).
