CELINA, Ohio — The Eels sent 12 swimmers to Bryson Pool.
They came back with one champion and a runner-up.
Alexis Bubp and Cassidy Martin finished first and second respectively for the Fort Recovery Eels swim team Saturday in the Celina Pentathlon.
Bubp, who will be a junior at Fort Recovery this fall, took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.81 seconds. She also won the 50 butterfly (32.16 seconds) and the 100 individual medley (1 minute, 15.16 seconds). She added a third place finish in the 50 breaststroke, and was sixth in the 50 backstroke.
Martin, who just completed her freshman year at Fort Recovery, was first in the 50 breaststroke in 38.74 seconds. She picked up a pair of third-place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 100 IM, was fourth in the 50 backstroke and fifth in the 50 butterfly.
There were 24 competitors in the girls 15-and-older division.
To place in the top eight of their age group, swimmers had to compete in all five events. The winner is determined by total time from all five races.
Kyra Clark finished third overall in the 11-12-year-old division. She was runner up in both the 25 breaststroke and 25 butterfly. She was fourth in the 25 freestyle and fifth in the 25 backstroke. In the same age division, which has 26 swimmers, Audra Bubp was eighth. She finished in the top eight in both the 25 breaststroke (fourth) and the 25 freestyle (eighth).
Teammate Audra Bubp was eighth overall in the same division out of 26 swimmers.
Neveah Lennartz picked up a victory as well, doing so in the 100 IM of the 9-10-year-old division. She had a time of 1:05:34.
