Eels cruise vs. Union City
FORT?RECOVERY — The relays showed the Eels’ dominance.
The Fort Recovery Eels summer swim team won 16 of 20 relays Monday night as they blasted visiting Union City 798-279 at Ambassador Pool in their final home meet of the season.
Fort Recovery swept relays in the 8-and-younger, 9-10-year-old and 15-and-older divisions and got two wins apiece from their 11-12-year-old girls and 13-14-year-old girls as it evened its record at 2-2 on the season.
The Eels had a pair of triple event winners in the 9-10-year-old divisions, with Teigen Fortkamp taking the girls 25-meter backstroke, 50 freestyle and 100 individual medley. Sage Wendel won the boys 25 butterfly, 25 freestyle and 100 IM.
Other triple event winners were all on the girls’ side, with Autumn Leuthold (8-and-younger) taking the 25 butterfly, 25 breaststroke and 50 freestyle, Kyra Clark (11-12) winning the 25 butterfly, 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke and Alexis Bubp (15-and-older) finishing first in the 50 butterfly, 50 freestyle and 100 individual medley.
Eli Lennartz, Audra Bubp, Ava Bubp, Sophie Timmerman, Mitchell Pugh, Jacob Acheson, Noah Homan and Shelby Stammen each picked up a pair of victories.
Adding single wins were Makenna Huelskamp, Zachary Ervin, Alex Hiser, Riley Grieshop, Rachel Kaup, Josh Gonzalez, Megan Weitzel, Grant Fortkamp, Reece LeFevre, Michaela Firks and Paige Fortkamp.
