Capsule Reports
No K-9
The Geneva Public Works and Safety Board tabled a request last week from South Adams School Resource Officer Scott Dailey to get a K-9 partner.
Citing the cost — at least $3,500, which was not anticipated in the 2016 budget — and feedback from community members who feel a K-9 isn’t necessary, board members Dick Clutter and Agnes Schoch decided the matter should wait until next year.
Board member Jim Timmons was not present at the Wednesday meeting.
Backing crash
A Dunkirk woman backed her car into another vehicle Monday in the parking lot of Meridian Health Services, 931 W. Water St., Portland.
Rosalee Duckworth, 73, 11310 E. Eaton Albany Pike, told a Portland police officer she was backing out of a parking spot in her 2000 Buick Century and did not see the 2006 Cadillac STS behind her. The Buick struck the rear of a Cadillac registered to Robert B. and Tammy L. Houston, 107 Honeysuckle Lane, Portland.
Damage in the 3:48 p.m. collision is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
