UNION CITY — Three more matches, three more wins for the Chiefs.
East Jay Middle School’s wresting team picked up a trio of victories Thursday in a triple-dual at Union City.
The Chiefs opened the evening with a 73-6 victory over the Randolph Southern Rebels, before knocking off the host Indians 60-30 and then earning a 76-18 win against the Richmond Red Devils.
Blayne Daniels, Dawson Hundley, Zakk Atkins, Braden McIntire, Mason Winner, Garrett Mann and Ethan Corwin all went 3-0 on the night.
Dyllan Garringer, Zack Twigg, Lita Chowning. Ian Ruiz, Jackson Lyons and Derrick Allen were all 2-1. Dakota Lairson and Levi Peterson finished 1-1.
Daniels, Hundley, Atkins, Winner, Mann and Corwin each earned two wins by pin, with Chowning, Twigg, Lyons, McIntire, Allen and Lairson notching one pin.
Eagles get first win
PARKER CITY — West Jay’s wrestling team picked up its first win of the season Thursday during a triple dual at Monroe Central.
After losing to Muncie Southside 33-6 in the first match of the night, the Eagles defeated Blue River 18-6. West Jay then dropped the final match of the evening, 45-27, to Monroe Central.
Carter Mitchell earned three victories for West Jay, two by pin and a 7-1 decision.
Sean Ashley earned a win against both Blue River and Monroe Central. Also picking up victories were Nevaeh Cox, Shyla Renner and Tre Bishop.
Mitchell and Ashley also won exhibition matches.
