The 2016 Dunkirk High
School Alumni banquet
will be held May 14 at
West Jay Middle School.
Doors will open at 5:00pm
with the dinner beginning
at 6:00pm. Invitations
were mailed out the
first week of March.

Library read
As part of the Jay
County Reads program at
Jay County Public
Library, the public is
invited to read “Shakespeare
Saved My Life: 10
years in solitary with the
Bard” by Laura Bates.
Discussion of the book
will be held at 7 p.m. on
Monday at the library.
Bates will also visit the
library at 7 p.m. on April
18 to talk about her experience
teaching Shakespeare
in a maximum
security prison.
The author is a Professor
of English at Indiana
State University and has
taught throughout the
Indiana state prison system
for more than 25
years and created the
world’s first Shakespeare
program for long-term
solitary confinement
units.
Copies of the book can
be checked out at the
library at 315 N. Ship St.
