Building permits
A confined feeding operation accounted for most of the $1.724 million in building permits approved in Jay County in February.
Jay County Building and Planning Department issues a permit to Chad Homan, LLC, for two swine confined feeding buildings at 2333 South 700 West. They are projected to cost $1.6 million.
Only eight other building permits were issued in February, with the largest of those coming in at $45,000 for Hoosier Pride Farms, LLC, for the construction of a disinfecting building at 7188 N. State Line Road. Wesley Harris got a permit for a pole barn at 5670 N. 650 West at an estimated cost of $29,000, and Richard Shimp received a permit for a $20,000 pole barn at 8653 S. 400 West.
Other permits were issued to: Leon Muhlenkamp for a $17,000 basement and porch at 5089 E. 500 North and a $5,000 cabin/shelter house at 5884 E. 500 North; Bradley Mock for a $3,000 basement and porch at 101 E. Rogers St., Portland; Clarel Strausburg II for an $800 storage building at 303 E. North St., Portland; and Dan J.M. Schwartz for a $4,000 storage building at 432 W. 400 North.
