Learn how to seek a grant

Taking Note

The Dunkirk Foundation is sponsoring a grant writing workshop for local non-profit organizations from 10 a.m. to noon April 9 at West Jay Community Center in Dunkirk.
Foundation board president Aaron Walter said the focus will be on helping “eligible groups learn more about successful grant writing.”
“Seeking grants and then writing successful proposals is critical for most non-profit organizations,” Walter said in a prepared statement. “There are many funding sources available, but learning about how to find them and then apply for funds is something that is intimidating to many who have never competed in one of these processes before.”
Jackie Davis, a Ball State University staff member and a member of the foundation’s board of directors, will lead the program. She is a former program officer with The Portland Foundation and is a certified research administrator. She assists BSU faculty and staff in applying for funds to support research and creative projects.
The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. To make a reservation, contact Brenda Brumfield at [email protected] or (765) 808-1292.
