SAHS track teams win

BLUFFTON — The South Adams boys and girls track teams picked up wins against the Bluffton Tigers and Heritage Patriots on Tuesday.
The Starfire girls won all but three events to total 96 points. Bluffton was second with 34.5 points, and Heritage scored 25.5 for third.
South Adams’ boys finished first in eight events for a team total of 70.5 points. Bluffton wasn’t too far behind with 61.5 points, and Heritage was third with 23.
Caroline Kloepper was a triple-event winner for the SAHS girls. She was first in the 100-meter dash, 200 dash and 400 dash.
Addie Wanner and Olivia Von Gunten were both dual winners. Wanner finished first in the 100 hurdles and high jump, with Von Gunten crossing the finish line ahead of the field in the 1,600 run and 800 run.
Also earning victories were Calyssa Lehman (discus), Kara Seffernick (3,200 run) and Megan Wynn (300 hurdles).

Drew LeFever earned the top spot in three events for the SAHS boys. He crossed the finish line first in the 100 dash, then won both the shot put and discus.
Bailey McIntire won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs, with David Steffen claiming the top spot in the 800.

Tribe gets win No. 3
DELPHOS, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s softball team jumped on Jefferson early in a 13-3 road victory in six innings.
It was the third win of the season for the Indians.
Fort Recovery (3-16) led 6-2 after the first inning, and then tacked on four more runs during the third for a 10-2 advantage. The Indians added one run in the fourth inning before Jefferson answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth. The Indians scored two runs in the top of the sixth and kept the home team scoreless in the bottom of the frame for the run-rule victory.
Whitney Will paced the Indians at the plate, going 3-for-4 with her first career home run, a double and three RBIs. Kristen Keller was also 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, and Emily Hart had two hits and two RBIs.

Tribe tops Rangers
FORT RECOVERY — Cade Wendel hit and pitched the Fort Recovery baseball team to a 7-2 victory over New Knoxville on Tuesday.
The Rangers (2-15, 0-7 Midwest Athletic Conference) led 2-1 after the first inning, but Division IV No. 9 Fort Recovery (15-6, 5-2 MAC) took the lead with three runs in the third and tacked on three more in the fifth.
Wendel was 3-for-4 with a double, two singles and three runs. He also got the win, tossing six strong innings to improve to 5-1. He gave up five hits and two earned runs while striking out seven and walking one.
Jackson Hobbs was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.

Trio lead MainSource
A trio of players led MainSource Bank to a 9-3 victory Monday over PG-14 in Portland Junior League’s Willie Mays division.
Kenny Carducci, Gavin Young and Jayden Hartzell each drove in two runs for MainSource, which also got hits from Koby Lewellen and Brady Davis.
Tyler Manor had an RBI for PG-14, with Ryne Goldsworthy also adding a hit.
Lewellen struck out five for MainSource, and Manor fanned five batters for PG-14.

Barnett’s wins
Barnett’s Auto Salvage opened its season Tuesday with a 26-15 victory over Ponderosa Steakhouse in the Rookie baseball division of Portland Junior League.
Cavan Hartzell led Barnett’s with a home run, a double and a single while driving in four runs and scoring three times. Benson Barnett tallied a double and four singles, scoring four times and driving in two runs.
Nick Snow and Manny Nakodakor both hit a double and two singles for Ponderosa.
