Minnich Architecture picks up two victories
Junior league roundup
Minnich Architecture & Construction picked up two wins Thursday in Portland Junior League’s Willie Mays division.
It defeated Inman U-Loc 19-9, and held off Portland Optimist in an 11-4 victory.
Timo Minnich had two singles against Inman U-Loc. Christian Runkle and Isaac Miller both had doubles.
Cohen Henry and Sam Myer both had home runs for Inman U-Loc, with Dawson Hundley adding a pair of singles.
Against Portland Optimist, Minnich’s Zac McAbee, Dusty Pearson, Isaak Kunkler and Isaac Miller all had two hits.
Landon Garringer had two singles for Portland Optimist, with Dyllan Garringer adding a triple and Griffin Byrum hitting a double.
Pioneer wins big
Pioneer Packaging opened its season Thursday with a 20-7 victory over Pak-A-Sak in Rookie baseball action of Portland Junior League.
Jayden Comer hit a triple and four singles to lead Pioneer, which got two doubles and three singles from Maddox Huffman as well as a triple, double and three singles from Dominick Bright. Max Dues also had four singles.
Comer and Huffman scored five times apiece.
Eli Stockton had a triple and a double to pace Pak-A-Sak. He also scored twice. Also adding runs for Pak-A-Sak were lex Miller, Trevor Jones, Tucker Snipes and Freddie Longo.
Masonic rallies to tie
After allowing 14 runs in the first inning, Masonic Lodge rallied to tie Jay County Monuments 17-17 on Wednesday in Portland Junior League’s Major softball division.
The game was called because it reached the time limit.
Justice Day and Rieley Brewster both had two hits for Masonic Lodge, which also got singles from Alivia Maitlen, Mary Hartman, Emily Jackson and Madison Curtis.
Nine different players tallied hits for Jay County Monuments, including Annie Huftel, Brittany Mullens, Shadie Canterbury, Lexie Ferguson, Hannah Clayton, Brianna Randall, Mariah Gross, Kearston Myers and Jayden Claytor.

A trio of players led Portland Optimist to a 13-9 victory Wednesday over Display Craft in Major softball division of Portland Junior League.
Jacquelyn Rivers had a double and three singles, while Rose Carter and Traeh Brower both tallied four singles. Nevaeh Petty totaled three hits.
