Local roundup
WOODBURN — An error opened the door for Woodlan. The Starfires’ freshman pitcher wouldn’t allow the home to take advantage.

The Starfires (12-8, 4-1 Allen County Athletic Conference) got on the board in the second inning and added a pair of runs in the third. Woodlan was scoreless until it put up the run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Besser went the distance to earn the win, striking out seven batters in the process. He allowed seven hits and worked around three errors.
Jayden Dull and Joe Stuber each drove in a run.
