Capsule Reports
Double theft
A Wal-Mart employee reported a theft at 4:53 p.m. Friday to Portland Police Department.
The employee at SmartStyle Salon in Wal-Mart reported to a Portland police officer that two bottles of hair products were stolen from the business.
At 6:13 p.m. another Wal-Mart employee reported the same suspect stole three items from the store.
The suspect has not been identified or arrested.
Went off road
A Jay County woman’s SUV went off the road Saturday afternoon in Greene Township.
Traci M. Mahon, 28, 396 N. Indiana 1, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was traveling west on county road 200 South near county road 700 West when she fell asleep at the wheel. Her 2011 Ford Expedition traveled to the south side of the road hitting a mailbox.
Damage in the 1:30 p.m. crash is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Tree collision
A Portland man went off the road Sunday in the SUV he was driving in Greene Township.
James K. Jenney, 58, 709 W. 450 South, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was traveling east on county road 450 South when a Ford pickup truck that was traveling west came over a hill in the opposite lane. He said to avoid hitting the truck with the 2002 Saturn Vue he was driving, he went off the road and struck a pole and telephone box. The Vue continued, eventually hitting a tree before stopping. The Ford did not stop continuing west.
The Vue is registered to Kristi C. Jenney, same address.
Damage in the 2:09 p.m. collision is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
