Jay opens sectional with Tipton

INDIANAPOLIS — The Patriots will open with the Blue Devils.
In the IHSAA baseball sectional tournament draw held this morning, the Jay County High School baseball team was given a matchup with the Tipton Blue Devils.
South Adams will meet Churubusco in its tournament opener.
Jay County, which dropped to Class 3A this season, will begin the Sectional 24 tournament at 5:30 p.m. May 25 against Tipton at Yorktown. The second opening-round game that evening pits the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles against the host Tigers, with the winners advancing to the first semifinal at 5:30 p.m. May 27.
The second semifinal, slated for 7:30 p.m. May 27, has the Delta Eagles meeting Hamilton Heights Huskies.
The championship game is slated for 6 p.m. May 30.
South Adams begins its Class 2A Sectional 36 tournament at 5:30 p.m. May 26 against the Churubusco Eagles at Adams Central. The host Flying Jets meet the Woodlan Warriors in the first opening-round game, which will be at 5:30 p.m. May 25.
The winners of the two first-round games will meet in the semifinal at 5:30 p.m. May 27. The second semifinal pits the Bluffton Tigers against the Fort Wayne Canterbury Cavaliers at 11 a.m. May 28.
The championship game is at noon May 30.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Jay County girls tennis team will meet the Union City Indians when it opens the sectional tournament on Thursday.
South Adams opens with Bluffton.
The Patriots, who are three-time defending sectional champions, host to the Sectional 30 tournament, which begins at 5 p.m. Thursday. They meet the Union City Indians in one semifinal, with the Winchester Golden Falcons squaring off against the Randolph Southern Rebels in the other semifinal.
The championship is slated for 5 p.m. Friday.
In the Sectional 46 tournament at Norwell, South Adams meets Allen County Athletic Conference rival Bluffton at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The winner advances to the semifinal against the host Knights at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
In the other semifinal, Adams Central awaits the winner of the opening-round matchup between the Bellmont Squaws and the Huntington North Vikings.
The Squaws and Vikings meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the semifinal will also be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The championship is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday.
