DUNKIRK — The Eagle seventh graders moved above .500.
The eighth graders had their losing streak extended.
West Jay Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams split with the Woodlan Warriors on Monday in the Allen County Athletic Conference opener.

The seventh grade Eagles won 32-24, and the eighth graders fell 51-15.
Isabel Rodgers led the WJMS seventh graders (2-1, 1-0 ACAC) with 19 points, and Kaelyn Denney chipped in with eight. Brea Klarer added four points, and Kamylee Stephens had one free throw.
Sophia Fugiett paced the eighth grade Eagles with four points, and Abbi Kuss added three. Haley Gillete, Lyric Garringer and Ashlyn Denney had two points apiece.
Eagle 7th wins
WOODBURN — Quinn Faulkner poured in 22 points Monday as the West Jay seventh grade boys basketball team defeated the host Woodlan Warriors, 35-23.
The WJMS eighth grade team fell 25-19.
Kess McBride, Trenton Alexander and Camdin Harrison each scored four points in support of Faulkner. Nick Street added one point.
Hunter Shumaker tallied 11 points for the West Jay eighth graders. Frankie Crump followed with three points, and Ashton Kuss and Luke Haggard each had two points.
Jaren Alexander added a free throw in the losing effort.
Chiefs beat Driver
East Jay’s seventh grade boys basketball team defeated Winchester Driver on Monday, 41-31.
The eighth grade Chiefs lost, 41-37.
Ethan Dirksen had a game-high 13 points for the EJMS seventh graders. Gavin Muhlenkamp totaled 10 points to join his teammate in double figures.
Bailey Cox and Brody Auker both eclipsed 10 points for the eighth grade Chiefs.
Cox totaled a game-high 15 points, while Auker added 11.
