COLDWATER, Ohio — The conference struggles continue for the Indians.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team rallied after a first-set loss to win the second, but dropped the next two in a 25-14, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18 defeat at the hands of Division III No. 3 Coldwater Cavaliers.
Sophomore Cassy Martin led the Indians (12-5, 2-5 Midwest Athletic Conference) with 10 kills and seven blocks. Paige Jutte chipped win with nine kills, four digs and two blocks, and Carley Stone tallied 13 digs, seven kills and three blocks.
Brooke Gaerke had four blocks, Kelsey Jutte tallied 14 assists and Faith Kahlig notched 11 digs and 10 assists. Kiah Wendel posted a team-high 16 digs.
In junior varsity action, Fort Recovery won 25-14, 25-22.
Hannah Knapke had eight kills to lead the Tribe, which got six kills and six blocks from Olivia Patch. Val Muhlenkamp chipped in with six blocks and four kills, while Rachel Acheson tallied 15 assists.

East Jay 8th wins
WINCHESTER — Bailey Cox had two rushing touchdowns Thursday, helping the East Jay Middle School eighth grade football team to a 28-0 victory over the host Driver Hawks.
The Chief seventh graders lost 22-6.
Cox had a 55-yard TD in the second quarter and scampered 45 yards to the end zone in the third quarter.
Sheldon Eley also had a touchdown run, and Landon Grimes connected with Eley for a 45-yard score as well.
In the seventh-grade game, Dawson Hundley connected with Shawn Fisher for a 55-yard pass-and-catch.

The EJMS eighth graders improve to 6-3 on the year, while the seventh grade squad falls to 3-4-1.

Panthers sweep EJ
All three East Jay volleyball teams came out on the losing end against the Muncie Southside Panthers on Thursday.
The EJMS eighth graders lost 16-25, 25-8, 15-6, the seventh grade squad fell 25-19, 25-20, and the sixth grade Chiefs dropped their match 25-10, 25-20.
Pacie Denney led the eighth grade Chiefs with seven digs, seven points and six assists. Natalie Miles tallied six kills and five digs, and Grace Saxman had five kills to go with her four digs. Ashlyn Dow’s 11 digs were a team high.
Madison Jetmore tallied eight points and two assists for the EJMS seventh graders. Ralyn Chaffins chipped in with four digs and two kills, while Grace Brewster and Maddy Wenk had three points each. Madison Dirksen notched a team-high six kills.
For the sixth grade Chiefs, Eden Abshire had two kills and one assist. Katie Haffner had two aces on her way to six points, and Natalie Wehrly had three points, two aces and a kill.

‘Cats top Tribe
MINSTER, Ohio — The Fort Recovery eighth grade volleyball team lost for just the second time this season Thursday, falling to the Minster Wildcats 10-25, 25-17, 25-15.
Hope Wendel notched team highs in assists (seven) and aces (five). She also had eight points. Kierra Wendel notched 18 digs, eight points and four kills, while Elena Evers had six kills.
Kyra Clark tallied nine digs, and Brenna Homan had eight digs. Paige Fortkamp notched five kills and six digs for the Indians (14-2, 6-2 Midwest Athletic Conference).
