A pair of former teammates were back on the same course together.
They just didn’t get the chance to compete against one another.
Abigail Johnson, a 2014 Jay County High School graduate, and Emi Minnich, a former Patriot and 2016 Burris grad, ran for their respective universities Friday in the Bethel College Cross Country Invitational.
Minnich, who attended Jay County during her freshman and sophomore seasons while a teammate of Johnson’s, finished 107th overall in the Blue division race for Moody Bible Institute. She was fifth on the team with a time of 21 minutes, 5.8 seconds. Moody was last out of 14 teams with 342 points, as Aquinas claimed the team title with a score of 41.
Johnson was 24th out of 66 competitors in the Gray division race, crossing the finish line in 21:25.3. She was eighth on the squad for the Wildcats, who won the eight-team invitational with 42 points.
Gabbie Mann
Jay County – 2016
Scored her first career goal Sunday for the IPFW women’s soccer team in a 4-1 loss to Omaha.
The freshman entered as a substitute in the first half and found the back of the net on a shot that knocked in off the Omaha goalkeeper.
It was Mann’s first shot on goal of her career and it tied the score for the Mastodons (3-10-1, 0-2-1 Summit League), who gave up three second-half goals in the defeat.
Mann also logged 23 minutes in a 2-2 tie Friday against IUPUI.
The former Jay County Patriot is the school’s all-time leader in goals for a career (63)?and also season (31).

Jay County – 2014
Had two mores sacks for the University of Saint Francis football team Saturday in its 24-22 victory over Siena Heights.
The redshirt sophomore notched his first sack in the fourth quarter on a third-and-10, then tallied the second on the next Siena Heights possession. He also had two solo tackles and assisted on two others for the NAIA No. 4 Cougars (5-1), who meet Concordia on Saturday.
Cassidy Rammel
Fort Recovery – 2015
Shared the team high of nine kills for the University of Saint Francis volleyball team Wednesday in a 3-1 win over Bethel College, 25-27, 25-22, 25-23, 25-15.
She also tallied six digs, three aces, two blocks and an assist for the Cougars (4-20, 3-9 Crossroads League).
During a weekend tournament at Johnson & Wales University in Colorado, the sophomore racked up 28 kills, 11 digs, and five blocks, as the Cougars split a pair of matches with Peru State and lost twice to host Johnson & Wales.

Kirsten Jutte
Fort Recovery – 2016
Reached 25 assists for the 13th time this season for the Capital University volleyball team in a 3-1 loss Tuesday to Muskingum.
She was also second on the team with 10 digs while also adding three kills and an ace.
The freshman totaled 10 assists, two kills, two blocks and two digs for the Crusaders (5-17) in a 3-0 loss to Ohio Northern on Friday.

Morgan Lennartz
Fort Recovery – 2016
Played for the IU East volleyball team Saturday in a 3-0 victory over the Brescia Bearcats.
Lennartz tallied two kills, two digs and a pair of blocks for the Red Wolves (11-13) in their 25-15, 25-22, 25-16) victory.
She also played during a 3-0 loss earlier in the day to IU Southeast, but did not record any stats.

Kelsey Fiely
Fort Recovery – 2013
Came off the bench for the University of Northwestern Ohio volleyball team in three-set losses to NAIA No. 10 Lourdes and No. 18 Madonna.
Fiely recorded three digs and one ace for the Racers (10-15) against Lourdes. She also had three digs in the loss to Madonna.

Ava Kunkler
Jay County – 2016
Notched two kills in three matches for the University of Saint Francis volleyball team during the Jonson & Wales Invite on Friday and Saturday.
The freshman had two kills in a 3-0 win Friday against Peru State, two more in a 3-0 loss Saturday to Johnson & Wales and another two during a 3-1 loss to Peru State on Saturday.

Julie Valentine
Jay County – 2013
Competed for the Stephens College women’s cross country team Saturday as it finished last out of seven teams at the Haskell Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas.
Valentine was the No. 6 runner on the Stephens squad.
She finished 61st overall in 26 minutes, 55.1 seconds in the 5K race.

Wes Wenning
Fort Recovery – 2016
Made his collegiate debut for the Ashland University football team Saturday in a 45-7 thumping of Northwood.
The receiver did not record any stats for the NCAA Division II No. 11 Eagles (5-1,4-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference).
