Medicare advice available

LifeStream Services will offer free Medicare Part D consultations during Medicare Open Enrollment, which begins Saturday and continues through  Dec. 7.
Consultations will be given by trained State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors at LifeStream offices in each county.

Counselors will also be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations and an appointment is also necessary.
Ashgrove Crossing, 4001 N. Walnut St. in Muncie on Oct. 17.
Jay County Hospital on Oct. 31.
Blackford County YMCA, 1709 N. Walnut St. in Hartford City on Nov. 7.
Jay County Hospital on Nov. 14.
Forest Park Senior Center, 2517 W. 8th St. in Muncie on Nov. 21.  

Blood drives
The American Red Cross will hold blood drives this month to support cancer patients and others during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Blood drives will be held from noon until 4 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Church of the Nazarene, 1402 W. Water St. in Hartford City
Also from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 20 and Oct. 25 at Pruis Hall on McKinley Ave. in Muncie.

Donors will save time when donating by completing the RapidPass online health history questionnaire at redcrossblood.org/rapidpass.
The Red Cross must collect about 14,000 blood donations every day to help patients, and volunteer donors are the only source of blood products for those needing transfusions.
