Hospital website gets facelift
By Nathan Rubbelke-
Jay County Hospital will soon have a fresh look, but you won’t catch a glimpse driving past the facility on Votaw Street. Instead, you’ll need to pull out your smart phone or laptop.
On Tuesday, JCH will debut a revamped website that features a new design as well as advanced features such as upgraded bill pay and a new patient portal.
Vicki Delzeith, community relations/foundation director, said the website’s facelift includes easier navigation, a simpler design and better responsiveness, which means hospital patients will be able to use the site on array of mobile devices.
The site was designed by SpinWeb, a web design and marketing company based out of Indianapolis. In January, Jay County Hospital Board approved a $19,000 agreement for SpinWeb to design the website.
At the same meeting, Jeff Horn, vice president of information and support services told the board the current website is about 10 years old and needs a more modern look.
Over the course of this year, SpinWeb has collaborated with the hospital to revamp its online presence.
“They’ve kind of done the set up, layout and we’ve gone through it back and forth the entire time,” Delzeith said.
Among the improved features of the overhauled website are an upgraded online bill pay and an easier physician search tool.
The website also includes the new MYJCHCare Patient Portal, which will allow hospital patients to have 24-hour access to their own personal medical information.
The portal will allow patients to view records such as lab results, medications, educational materials, discharge summaries and more.
CEO Dave Hyatt noted the new website is a large investment but one that keeps the hospital at the forefront of providing advanced care.
“I look at the website as our front door," he said. "We have to have a good website, a good bill pay, a good portal so that patient have access to their information and we have transparent service.”
The website, Hyatt said, meets the wishes of its patients.
“Really when it comes down to it,” he said, “it’s about what do our patients want in healthcare.”
