NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — The Indians closed the regular season on a sour note.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team dropped its final regular-season match Thursday, 25-19, 21-25, 26-24, 25-21 to the New Knoxville Rangers.
The loss drops the Indians to 14-8 on the year and puts them in a four-way tie with St. Henry, Minster and New Knoxville for fifth in the Midwest Athletic Conference at 3-6.
Carley Stone led the Indians with 17 digs and 15 kills, while also adding one ace. Paige Jutte and Cassy Martin were second on the team with 12 kills, as Martin chipped in with four blocks and Jutte added two blocks.
Devin Post had eight kills, and Brooke Gaerke had six kills to go with her pair of blocks. Madi Rammel recorded 32 assists and 13 digs.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team defeated the Rangers, 25-22, 25-18.
Olivia Patch and Chloe Showalter had seven kills each to lead the Indians, who also got six and four kills respectively from Val Muhlenkamp and Rachel Acheson. Brooke Kahlig totaled 17 digs and Acheson notched 12 assists.
Fort Recovery, which is the defending sectional champion and is seeded third in the Division III Kalida District, begins postseason play at 6 p.m. Wednesday at home against No. 12 seed Riverdale.
