COLUMBUS, Ohio — Back and forth goes the Tribe.
One week after climbing two spots, the Fort Recovery High School football team slid in the OHSAA computer rankings released Tuesday.
The Indians (5-3), who are ranked 10th in the Division VII Associated Press poll, slipped one spot to No. 4 in Division VII Region 28 with 8.95 points.
Covington (8-0) remained the top-ranked team in the region with its total of 17.08, and Troy Christian stayed at No. 2 with 12.67 points.
Ada (6-2) jumped two spots to No. 3 with 9.84 points, and Minster (4-4) rounds out the top five with 8.76 points.
Other top-10 teams include Lehman Catholic (5-3 – 8.13), Cincinnati Hillcrest (6-2 – 6.97), Miami Valley Christian Academy (4-3 – 6.96), DeGraff Riverside (5-3 – 6.9) and Upper Scioto Valley (5-3 – 6.84).
St. Henry, Fort Recovery’s Oct. 28 opponent, is 6-2 and ranked fifth in Division VI Region 24.
The top eight teams in each region earn playoff berths, and the top four teams receive home games for the first round.
Three honored
FORT RECOVERY — Three Fort Recovery volleyball players earned All-Midwest Athletic Conference honors Tuesday.
Carley Stone, a junior, was the lone Tribe representative on the All-MAC first team. She led the Indians to a 14-8 record, including a 9-1 start for the best record through 10 matches in more than a decade. Stone’s 267 kills led the team. She was second on the squad in digs (246), third in blocks (22) and fourth in aces (26).
Stone’s classmate Kiah Wendel and sophomore Cassidy Martin were given honorable mention.
Wendel led the team with 209 service points and 58 aces, and was second on the team in serving percentage (96.2 percent) among players with more than 100 serves. Her 242 digs ranks third for the Tribe.
Martin led the Indians with 87 blocks, including 50 solo.
The Indians, who are the No. 3 seed in the Division III Kalida District, open tournament play at 6 p.m. tonight at home against Riverdale.
Stars drop finale
BERNE — The South Adams Middle School seventh grade football team dropped its season finale to St. Charles on Tuesday, 8-6.
Aidan Wanner scored the lone touchdown for the Starfires (6-1), finding paydirt from the 1-yard line. He finished with 54 yards on 15 carries and was 5-of-9 through the air with 63 yards.
Parker Brian and Uriel Hernandez each forced fumbles for the SAHS defense.
