Went off road
An Albany man’s car went off the road Sunday morning in Richland Township after he fell asleep at the wheel.
Zachary R. Streit, 23, 240 N. Meadow Lane, was westbound on Indiana 67, near Indiana 1, when he fell asleep and the 2005 Ford Escape he was driving crossed over into the eastbound lane and went off the south side of the road.
The Ford hit a tree with its front driver’s side, spun around and then hit another tree with its passenger side before it came to rest.
The Ford is registered Joseph F. Streit, same address as the driver. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Damage in the 6:29 a.m. is estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
Deer struck
A Portland woman struck a deer with her Chevrolet late Friday evening in Penn Township.
Linda A. Gray, 57, 1940 S. Nandel Lane, was traveling south on Indiana 1, north of Indiana 18, when a deer entered the roadway. She was unable to avoid striking the animal with her 2014 Chevrolet Traverse.
Damage in the 11:15 p.m. accident is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
