Last week at Blackford: Jay County scored 21 points in the third quarter, picking up where it left off for a 42-8 victory in a game that was took two days to complete because of inclement weather. Holton Hill threw for three touchdowns, two of which to Cole Stigleman, and Jacob Geesaman had two rushing scores.
Season leaders: Passing — Holton Hill – 13-for-19 passing for 286 yards and four touchdowns. Rushing — Cole Stigleman – 20 carries for 83 yards. Receiving — Bryan Stancliffe – three receptions for 95 yards and one touchdown. Defense — Ethan Theurer – 20 tackles, two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.
Southern Wells Raiders

Coach: Steve Yencer, fourth year
Conference: Allen County
Last week vs. Fremont: A touchdown in each of the third and fourth quarters erased a 7-6 deficit as Southern Wells defeated Fremont 18-7. Mason Huffman rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, with Briar Beeks and Cody?Bass each adding rushing touchdowns. Huffman also had two interceptions.
Season leaders: Passing — Braxton Gerber — 3-of-10 passing for 66 yards, one touchdown and two interceptoins. Rushing — Mason Huffman – 14 carries for 131 yards and one touchdown. Receiving — Huffman – two catches for 62 yards and one touchdown. Defense — Briar Beeks – 21 tackles and half a sack.
Last season: Jay County lost a 28-14 halftime lead, threw three interceptions —?two were returned for touchdowns — in the third quarter and the Class 1A No. 9 Southern Wells Raiders scored 26 unanswered points in a 40-26 victory against Jay County. Holton Hill threw three touchdown passes, two to Cole Stigleman and one to Bryan Stancliffe.
Game notes: This is the fourth meeting all time between Jay County and Southern Wells, with the Raiders holding a 2-1 advantage in the series. Jay County’s only win came in 2003, a 13-7 victory ... This is the Allen County Athletic Conference opener for both squads.?Jay County is 3-9 in two seasons of ACAC?play ...
