DECATUR — For the third consecutive match, the Patriots weren’t able to get a win.
The Jay County High School boys tennis team was shut out for the third time in a row Monday in a 5-0 loss to the host Bellmont Braves.
At No. 1 singles, Garrett Rodgers lost to Austin O’Campo 6-0, 6-1. Payton Heniser dropped his No. 2 singles match 6-4, 6-0, and Conner Benter battled with Nick Teeple at No. 3 singles before eventually losing 6-2, 6-4.
The Patriots’ No. 1 doubles team of Luke Weaver and Kyler Hudson lost 6-1, 6-2 to Collin Selking and Robby Ysidron, and at No. 2 doubles Gabe Blankenship and Xavier Ninde fell 6-2, 6-0 to Kevn Schuler and Michael Wetter.
Jay County’s junior varsity team also lost, 2-1. Gavin Randall earned the only win for JCHS, an 8-3 triumph over Devin Stetler in singles action.
The Patriots fall to 3-10 on the season.
Tribe beat Raiders
RUSSIA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s volleyball team won its 10th match of the season Monday, sweeping the Russia Raiders 25-18, 25-22, 27-25.
Carley Stone had a team-high 16 kills for the Indians (10-2), who finished tied for 15th in the most recent Division III coaches poll voting.
Paige Jutte added nine kills, with Cassy Martin and Devin Post both chipping in with eight. Madi Rammel tallied four kills and four digs to go with her team-high 26 assists, and Brooke Gaerke notched three kills and three digs.
Kiah Wendel tallied a team-high 15 digs, Alexis Bubp recorded 13 and Stone had a dozen.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Fort Recovery football team fell three spots to No. 5 in the Division VII Associated Press poll released Monday.
The Indians (3-1), who lost 30-12 to Division V No. 1 Coldwater on Friday, received one first-place vote and totaled 104 points.
Mogadore, which the Indians defeated in the state championship game last season, remained No. 1 with 224 points. Warren John F. Kennedy (198) is second, Covington (168) is third and Norwalk St. Paul is fourth with 123.
Finishing out the top 10 are Toronto (98), Convoy Crestview (97), Shadyside (70), Monroeville (42) and Midwest Athletic Conference foe Delphos St. John’s (37).
Marion Local, another MAC rival, came in at No. 2 in Division VI to give the conference four ranked teams.
SA tennis falls
FORT WAYNE — South Adams’ boys tennis team lost a 4-1 decision Monday to the Wayne Generals.
David Musleman, the Stafires’ No. 1 singles player, earned the only victory on the night, defeating Isaac Romary 6-1, 6-2.
At No. 2 singles, Jamison Kistler lost to Thomas Wartenberg 6-2, 6-1, and Zach Teeple dropped his No. 3 singles match 6-3, 6-1 to Roberto Medina.
The Starfires’ No. 1 doubles team of Aidan Bahre and Cam Stevens fell to Ben Dimino and Jacob Moreno 6-3, 6-1, and at No. 2 doubles Paul Stuckey and Jack Wallace lost 6-2, 6-1 to Cam Fyfe and Jack Bixby.
In junior varsity action, Wes Stout lost his singles match to Nick Chapman 6-2.
Stars season ends
BLUFFTON — The South Adams girls golf team had its season end Monday as it placed eighth in the IHSAA girls golf sectional tournament at Timber Ridge Golf Club.
The tournament was postponed from Saturday.
Homestead won the team title with a 305, Bellmont was the runner-up with 349 and Canterbury placed third with 355. South Adams totaled 413.
The top three teams earn regional berths.
Kaiti Gorrell made par five times on her way to a team-best 96. Selina Jones, playing in her final high school match, made four pars on the front nine and shot a 101. Becah Schwartz shot 107, and Allyson Schwartz was fourth on the team with 109.
Katie Stiltner also competed, finishing with a 137.
Patriot JV wins big
Jay County’s junior varsity football team scored on the ground, through the air and on defense Monday in a 50-0 rout of the Bluffton Tigers.
Parker Grimes threw a 59-yard touchdown pass to Wyatt Geesaman, and Gabe Faulkner also had a passing touchdown Max Moser.
Collin Haines and Adam Burke both scored rushing TDs. Haines finished with 26 yards on the ground and Mitchel Frasher had a 65 yards on just two carries.
Matthew Sexton picked off two passes, returning one for a score, and Grimes also had a pick-six.
Ben Antrim and Noah Harris had six and five tackles respectively for Jay County, which moves to 3-2 on the year.
Chiefs lose to Eagles
MUNCIE — The East Jay Middle School eighth grade volleyball team lost to the host Delta Eagles on Monday, 25-11, 25-16.
The sixth grade A team also lost, 25-9, 25-17.
Pacie Denney posted eighth grade team highs in points (six), aces (four) and assists (three). Natalie Miles led the way with four digs, with Alaina Kunkler adding two kills and one block each.
Ashlyn Dow totaled two digs and one kill, and Maria Dirksen notched two points.
Katie Haffner and Eden Abshire had one kill each, with Abshire adding two points, both on aces. Natalie Wehrly had four points and one ace.
Seventh grade stats were not provided.
