Last week at Bluffton: Jay County’s defense forced four turnovers and returned one interception for a touchdown in a 37-18 defeat of the Tigers. Jacob Geesaman had the pick-six, as well as a fumble recovery and a rushing touchdown. Ryan Schlechty ran for a score and caught a 77-yard TD pass from Holton Hill.
Season leaders: Passing — Holton Hill – 27-for-47 for 517 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. Rushing — Cole Stigleman – 65 carries for 409 yards and three touchdowns. Receiving — Bryan Stancliffe – six catches for 178 yards and one touchdown. Defense — Ethan Theurer – 57 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack and two fumble recoveries.

Woodlan Warriors
Woodburn, 5-0 (3-0 ACAC)
Coach: Sherwood Haydock, sixth year
Conference: Allen County
Last week vs. Southern Wells: Tre’von McCarter had five total touchdowns in leading the Warriors to a 57-7 victory over the visiting Raiders. McCarter rushed six times for 134 yards and four touchdowns and hauled in half of Justin Durkes’ 12 completions for 117 more yards and a touchdown.
Season leaders: Passing — Justin Durkes – 68-of-89 for 1,179 yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions. Rushing — Jack Rhoades – 75 carries for 686 yards and four touchdowns. Receiving — Donald Guerrant – 32 receptions for 552 yards and four touchdowns. Defense — Seb Speith – 35 tackles and one sack.
Last season: Woodlan scored all 21 of its points during the first half, in a shutout win over Jay County in Woodburn. It was tied for the third-lowest point total for the Warriors on the season, who went undefeated before losing in the semi-state game to Whiting, 14-7.
Game notes: This is the third meeting between Woodlan and Jay County, with the Warriors having won the previous two, one each in Portland and Woodburn ... Woodlan is ranked second in Class 2A by the Associated Press and is the top-ranked team according to the Indiana Football Coaches Association poll ... Last season the Warriors won sectional and regional titles for the first time since 1988. It marked the fourth sectional and third regional title in program history ... Woodlan is averaging more than 48 points per game and is allowing just nine points. It has scored 45 or more points four times and surpassed 50 points in three games. Jay County scores 23.8 points per game while alowing 21.5 points.
