FORT RECOVERY — In a special meeting Tuesday, Fort Recovery School Board approved additional appropriations totaling nearly $350,000.
More than half of the additional funds — $200,000 — went into the permanent improvement fund for the purchase of two buses as well as technology and playground equipment. The board approved the purchase of the two buses at its March meeting at a cost of $175,552 minus the trade-in value of two buses.
Fort Recovery typically plans to replace a bus every two years, but had gotten behind schedule. Purchasing two buses this year will allow the school district to take two buses with more than 100,000 miles on them out of regular service. The district will then go back to its regular bus-replacement schedule.
Also Tuesday, the board approved Harold Fiely as an assistant baseball coach and Brad Evers as an assistant track coach.
It approved a field trip March 30 and 31 for students to attend the FFA state agricultural mechanics contest in Columbus.
