ST. HENRY, Ohio — In each of the last five seasons, the Indians did not win a conference game.
The streak has been snapped.
Lydia Wenning hit her first career home run, helping the Fort Recovery High School softball team defeat St. Henry Redskins 3-2 on Thursday.
It was the first Midwest Athletic Conference victory for the Indians (3-6, 1-0 MAC) since 2011.
Fort Recovery freshman Bailey Tebbe scored on an error in the top of the second inning to tie the score 1-1. In the top of the third, Wenning, who is also a freshman, hit a two-run shot to put the Indians on top, 3-1.
St. Henry responded with a run in the home half of the inning, but Devin Post shut the door on the Redskins over the final three frames.
Taylor Grisez and Tebbe both had singles for the Indians, who also got walks from Taylor Thien, Macy Day and Tebbe.
Post scattered five hits over seven innings. She allowed two earned runs and five walks while striking out five.
Thwaits leads Tribe
FORT RECOVERY — Nick Thwaits extended his scoreless streak to 10 innings, helping the Fort Recovery baseball team to a 4-0 victory Thursday over the St. Henry Redskins.
Thwaits, a junior who has committed to Kent State University, threw five shutout innings and allowed one hit. He struck out nine and walked three.
The streak has been snapped.

Stars rout Bulldogs
NEW HAVEN — Katelin Augsburger was perfect through four innings and Isabella Ramirez knocked in four runs as the South Adams softball team routed the New Haven Bulldogs, 12-2, in five innings Thursday.
South Adams (4-0), which is ranked No. 10 in Class 2A, struck for three runs in the third inning before tacking on five and four runs respectively in the third and fourth innings.
Augsburger celebrated her 18th birthday by striking out all 12 batters she faced through four innings. She gave way to Anna Nussbaum, who allowed three hits, two runs — one earned — in one inning of relief.
Ramirez had a triple and a double to lead the Starfires. Morgan Alberson, Casi Evans and Kayla LeFever each had triples, with Ramirez also adding a double. Alberson, Evans and LeFever all finished with two RBIs.
Knights sweep SA
BERNE — The South Adams girls tennis team dropped a 5-0 match to the Norwell Knights on Thursday.
Haley Gerber and Hannah Dull lost their matches in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 3 singles respectively. Gerber fell to Breann Barger 6-1, 6-0, and Dull dropped a 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 contest to Ciera Middleton.
At No. 2 singles, Virginia Lagos lost 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.
The Starfires’ No. 1 doubles team of Caralie Farlow and Julia Grabau lost to Caitlyn Griggs 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, and at No. 2 doubles Sydney Pierce and Breanna Potts fell to Abby Hoover and Sadie Mann 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).
South Adams’ junior varsity team won, 4-2. Katrina Fosnaugh and Jade Farlow won their singles matches 8-2. At No. 1 doubles, Fatima Sandoval and Sarah Kloepper won 8-7 (9-7). Kate Buckingham and Farlow teamed for a 6-0 victory in their doubles contest.
