Zane Shreve played his part in helping his teammates get there.
Shreve, a 2014 Jay County High School graduate, was uncontested in the decathlon, helping the Miami University men’s track and field team place second in the All-Ohio Track and Field Championships at Cincinnati on Friday and Saturday.
The junior totaled 5,870 points, helping the RedHawks total 223 points, behind meet champion Cedarville, which scored 233 points.
In the 100-yard dash, Shreve had a time of 11.59 seconds, and followed with a long jump distance of 20 feet, 5.25 inches. In the other field events, he had a distance of 33 feet, 11.25 inches, in shot put, 104 feet, 5 inches, in discus and a javelin throw of 112 feet, 7 inches. He cleared 5 feet, 8.5 inches, in high jump, and successfully pole vaulted 12 feet, 5.5 inches.
In the 400 dash, he had a time of 53.8 seconds before running the 110 hurdles in 15.93 seconds. He completed the 1,500 run in 4 minutes, 52.43 seconds.
Collin Affolder

Tallied four hits recently for the Bethel College baseball team.
He had two hits and scored once as the beat Spring Arbor 6-5 in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday. He followed that performance with a single and an RBI as the Pilots swept Spring Arbor with a 4-3 victory.
On Wednesday, Affolder had one hit and drove in a pair of runs as the Pilots (8-15, 8-13 Crossroads League) beat University of Saint Francis 5-4 in 10 innings.
Chandler Ingle
South Adams 2015
Appeared on the bump for the Goshen College baseball team in a 7-6 victory over Lourdes on Monday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Ingle started, allowing eight hits, five runs — four earned — and four walks in four innings of work. He did not factor into the decision for the Maple Leafs (21-23-1, 9-12 Crossroads League).
Jackson Hobbs

Lost for the second time in as many starts for the Edison State Community College baseball team as it lost to Cuyahoga Community College 6-2 on Friday.
Hobbs allowed 11 hits, including a pair of home runs. He gave up six runs — four earned — while striking out three in 4 2/3 innings.
The Chargers fell to 11-14 (0-8 Ohio Community College Athletic Conference).
Kyra Braun
Jay County – 2016
Battled to three sets but came up short for the Trine University women’s tennis team in its 9-0 loss to No. 21 Hope College on Saturday.
Playing at No. 6 singles against Liz Pniewski, Braun dropped the first set 6-0, and rebounded to win the second 6-3. Pniewski held off Braun to take the tiebreak, 10-6, to win the match.
Braun’s season record fell to 8-3, which is best for the Thunder (2-14, 0-5 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association).

Competed for the IPFW women’s track team during the Ball State Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
The junior was 38th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 42.77 seconds. Sarah Anderson of Western Michigan won the race with a time of 4:31.4.
