Program to be held at Historical Museum

A program will be held tonight for anyone interested in searching their genealogy.

The Jay County Historical Society will have a program at 7 p.m. at the Jay County Historical Museum at 903 E. Main St. in Portland.

The genealogy committee will present a skit with Blake Watson portraying his great-great-grandfather John Landess, thah is intended to show the audience the vast collection of genealogy resources available at the museum.

The public is welcome to the free program.



Rainbow tour

A guided tour of Rainbow Bottom in Geneva will take place on Saturday.

Hikers should meet at 9 a.m. at the Limberlost State Historic Site Visitor Center, 200 E. 6th St. in Geneva, to drive to the site north of Geneva.

Participants will take a hike through Rainbow Bend Park, an area known as Rainbow Bottom to author Gene Stratton-Porter, to view flowers, plants and wildife.

Library events

Mother’s Day will be celebrated at Jay County Public Library in May.

Muffins with Mothers and Others will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 6.

There will be tea and muffins and a craft will be made.

DIY?Mother’s Day Card Making will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9.

The event will be held in the children’s area and supplies will be available.

There will be two Movies with Mom.

“Aristocrats” will be shown at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3.

“Freaky Friday” will be at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 12. Trade outfits with mom to join the fun.

There will be a Freaky Friday Foto Booth starting at 5 p.m. Friday and all day on Saturday, May 13.



Pickers coming

Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz of American Pickers are returning to Indiana in June to film episodes of the History Channel series.

The show follows Mike and Frank as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques.

Anyone with a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques that the pickers can spend a day looking through can call (855) OLD-RUST.



Kite month

National Kite Month will be celebrated at the Academy of Model Aeronautics, 5161 E. Memorial Drive in Muncie.

The Ansel Toney Memorial Kite Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 6.
