FORT RECOVERY — The Indians and Panthers couldn’t break through for eight innings.

The Tribe bullpen wasn’t able to preserve the shutout.

Fort Recovery High School’s baseball team gave up four runs in the top of the ninth inning Thursday in a 4-0 loss to the Parkway Panthers.

The Indians (11-6, 4-2 Midwest Athletic Conference), who finished ninth in the OHSBCA Division IV coaches poll earlier in the day, left eight runners on base, including Ben Homan and Nick Thwaits after they hit doubles. Homan finished with two hits and one walk, and Thwaits added a walk too.

After seven solid innings from Thwaits — he allowed one hit, one walk and struck out a dozen — he gave way to Micaiah Cox. Parkway got two runners on in the eighth to chase Cox, and Homan came in to get out of the jam.

But the Panthers got to Homan one inning later, scoring four runs — two earned — on four hits.

Cade Wendel also had a hit in the loss.
