Therapy dog to visit Fort Recovery Library
Taking Note
Activities are coming up at Fort Recovery Public Library.
Therapy dog Sergeant and his owner Audrey will visit the library at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
They will share about training and duties of a therapy dog.
Come learn about the upcoming solar eclipse during a story and activity time at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15.
The evening book club Novels at Night will discuss the book “Decked”?by Carol Higgins Clark at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21.
The Book and Lunch Club will discuss the book “A Man Called Ove” by Frederik Backman in September.
The group will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, to discuss the book and then eat at a local restaurant.

Gas Boom Days
Gas Boom Days will be held in downtown Redkey from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20.
Saturday will feature Bikers Cruise’N for A Cure, with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Key Palace Theater and the ride to start at noon. The cost is $30 per bike and will include a free pass for live Outlaw music to begin at 6 p.m. at the Palace. Individual music tickets will cost $10. A hog roast and bike show will be from noon until 5:30 p.m.
Sunday’s events will include a chili dog sauce contest and a corn hole tournament, both beginning at 1 p.m.
There will also be food, games, a quilt exhibit, historical dress contest, historic demonstrations, arts, crafts, antiques and a cakewalk.

Donors needed
The American Red Cross is experiencing a severe blood shortage and has issued an emergency call for blood donations.
Anyone who has an email address on file with the Red Cross and donates by Aug. 31 will receive a $5 Target eGiftCard.
Volunteers needed
The Hospice Group is in need of volunteers for hospice patients and families at Persimmon Ridge in Portland.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and their duties range from sitting with a patient to planning events.

Jayland Partners is hosting an event for parents and caregivers of people with special needs of all ages.
The Parent 2 Parent Night Out will be held at Tipsy Glass Winery from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
The event’s goal is to provide an opportunity to get to know others, share experiences and learn from one another.
The winery is located at 8685 N. 400 East, Bryant.
