Those who like to read a good mystery novel won’t want to miss a visit from The Speed City Sisters-in-Crime authors at Jay County Public Library.
Sisters-in-Crime is a network of 3,600 members worldwide that support those who write mystery novels, with the Speed City chapter based in Indiana.
Speaking will be N.W. Campbell who has written short stories published in the collections of “Decades of Dirt: Murder, Mystery and Mayhem” and “The Fine Art of Murder.”
Ross Carley has a background in military intelligence,engineering and defense. He has written two novels in the Wolf Ruger series — “Dead Drive” and “Formula Murder.”
Brenda Stewart brings her knowledge and experience in forensics to her writing and has authored the forensic mystery series that features Lettie Sue Wolfe.
Steve Terrell is a lawyer and writer from Muncie and has authored four books and several short stories.
Interaction with the audience will follow the speakers and books will be available for sale.
The starting of school also means the return of children’s activities at JCPL.
Mother Goose will be sharing stories through music and movement beginning at 10 a.m. on Sept. 8. She will continue to visit at 10 a.m. each Friday in September.
Miss Kay and Miss Linda will havestory and fun time each Monday at 10 a.m. beginning Sept. 11 and continuing Sept. 18 and 25 and at 10 a.m. beginning Tuesday, Sept. 12 and continuing Sept. 19 and 26. The same story will be read both days.
Lego Challenge will move to Thursdays and will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28.
Groups meeting in September will include Cookbook Club at 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 11 with the theme “Fresh from the Garden.” JayCPL Book Club will discuss “Rules of Civility” by Amor Towles at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18; Hook & Needles Club will meet between 5 and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Friends of the Library will have its annual used book sale from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Aug. 24 and 25, and from 8 a.m. until noon Aug. 26 in the Community Room at the library.
Dance and DJ
A free dance will be held Saturday at the Dunkirk Elks Lodge. The DJ for ‘Oldies on Vinyl’ will be Dunkirk resident J.T. Phillips.
Crochet groups
Anyone wanting to learn to crochet or those more experienced are invited to a new group at Fort Recovery Public Library.
The crochet group will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and will meet each week.
A second group will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11 in the Fort Recovery High SchoolCummunity Meeting Room.

The Mercer Health Weight Management Center will hold a nine-week weight management program “Rev It Up.”
Classes will be held at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the Mercer Health Weight Management Center on the Mercer Health West Campus in Coldwater, Ohio, and continue for nine weeks.
Rev-It-Up is a behavior modification, interactive lifestyle program led by a registered dietitian that covers topics such as ‘revving’ up your metabolism, hunger and fullness signals, fluid needs, meal timing, simplified portion guidelines, eating out strategies, aerobic exercise, and more.
