A Jay County Jail employee was injured early Sunday morning when he was attacked by a prisoner who was being booked on an auto theft charge.
Jay County Sheriff Dwane Ford said Monday that Dylan Limbert suffered a concussion when he was thrown to the floor and attacked by Willie Anthony Lowe, Cincinnati, about 2 a.m. Sunday.
Limbert was taken to Jay County Hospital for treatment and is currently on his regularly scheduled time off. He is expected to return to work Wednesday, Ford said.
Lowe was initially stopped by the Pennville town marshal after a suspicious vehicle had been reported at the elementary school.
Police said he refused to identify himself and fled the scene, heading south on Indiana 1. He then lost control of the vehicle and went off the highway at county road 500 South.
Police said Lowe may have mental health issues and was scheduled to meet with a mental health professional.
