Indian girls fifth at Mercer County Meet
Fort Recovery cross country
CELINA, Ohio — Chloe Will was the Tribe’s best runner last season.
She’s continued the trend in the first meet this year.
Will, a Fort Recovery High School junior, finished fourth Tuesday in helping the Tribe girls cross country team finish fourth in the Mercer County Meet.
The host Celina Bulldogs won the six-team meet with a score of 48. St. Henry was second with 52 points, two points ahead of Coldwater. The Indians scored 115 points for fifth.
Fort Recovery’s boys totaled 127 points for fifth, behind Celina (44), St. Henry (51), Parkway (61) and Coldwater (80).
Will crossed the finish line in 22 minutes, 11.45 seconds. Anna Wendel was 17th in 23:56.82, Hanna Metzger finished 26th in 24:56.98 and Elise Gehle had a time of 25:23.25 for 30th.
Sarah Siefring completed the team score by placing 46th in 27:34.79.
Drew Muhlenkamp was the top FRHS boy, as he was 14th in 19:40.59. Conner Gower was 22nd in 21:14.66, and Jared Timmerman was 28th with a time of 21:57.78.
Cameron Romer (22:47.2) and Josh Gonzalez (23:14.98) were 34th and 39th respectively.
Also running for the FRHS girls were Kendra Metzger (49th), Heather Klenke (52nd), Ashley Dues (64th), Britney Klenke (67th), Madi Kaiser (71st) and Rachel Moorman (72nd). For the boys were Jayden McEldowney (47th), Andy Weitzel (48th) and Jason Siefring (68th).
Middle school
Fort Recovery’s girls had three of the top 10 runners as it finished second to Coldwater.
The Cavaliers had five of the top six places as it totaled 19 points. Fort Recovery scored 61 and St. Henry was third with 83.
Alyssa Heinrichs led the FRMS girls by finishing seventh in 14:55.37. Alexis Wendel (14:56.45) and Caitlin Weitzel (15:22.41) were eighth and ninth respectively.
Miranda Metzger finished 15th in 15:59.09, and Megan Metzger was 22nd in 16:38.38.
Ethan Evers was the lone runner for the FRMS boys, and he finished 24th in 16:21.17.
Megan Diller (25th), Emma Fullenkamp (32nd) and Brianna Pottkotter (46th) also ran for the girls.
