DUNKIRK — The Eagles couldn’t take care of the Jets in regulation.
So they did it in triple overtime.
West Jay Middle School’s seventh grade girls basketball team outlasted the Adams Central Jets on Tuesday, earning a 35-29 victory in triple overtime.
The eighth grade team also won, 33-31.
Grace Shimp and Abbie Fields paced the WJMS seventh graders with a dozen points apiece. Taylor Brown and Paige Gillette chipped in four points each, and Alizabeth Stotler had two points. Paige Mumbower added one point.
Isabel Rodgers led the eighth graders with 22 points. Shimp had five points, Kaelyn Denney contributed four points and Fields had two points.
Boys lose to Jets
MONROE — West Jay’s seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams both lost to the host Adams Central Jets on Tuesday.
The eighth graders fell 39-26, and the seventh graders dropped a 40-12 game.
Quinn Faulkner led the eighth graders in the loss with a dozen points. Nick Street and Camdin Harrison had a half dozen points each, while Trenton Alexander scored two points.
Tavin Wasson and Gabe Goodspeed led the seventh graders with four points apiece. Dominick Newsome and Kaleb Meadows both had two points.
Tribe, ’Cats split
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s boys basketball teams split games with the Minster Wildcats on Tuesday.
The seventh graders won 35-25, and the eighth graders lost 33-19.
Ross Pearson paced the seventh graders with 10 points. Cale Rammel contributed seven points while Tucker Overman and Wyatt Grover chipped in five points apiece.
Caleb Evers scored seven points in the eighth grade game. Owen Wenning and Owen Jutte had four points each, while Peyton Brunswick and Riley Hiser both tallied two points.
Stars sweep Blackford
HARTFORD City — South Adams’ seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams smashed the host Blackford Bruins on Thursday.
The seventh graders shut out the Bruins in the opening quarter on its way to a 52-21 win, and the eighth graders had a 46-17 victory.
Matt Steiner led the seventh graders (4-2) with 16 points, as Hunter Kongar and Kyle Minger were second with eight points each. Nathan Muselman recorded six points and Josh Amstutz tallied four points.
Trey Schoch and Aidan Wanner led the eighth graders with 15 and 14 points respectively. Kaleb Stevens joined them in double figures with 1
