Two freshmen, a sophomore and a senior won a pair of events apiece.
They carried the Patriots to yet another victory.
Jay County High School’s girls swim team moved to 4-0 on the season Tuesday with a 170-136 victory over the Oak Hill Golden Eagles.
The Patriot boys lost, 185-114.
Erica Hathaway, a sophomore, handled the distance races for the Patriots as she was first in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events. Freshman Eliza Bader claimed wins in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, and her classmate Ashlyn Dow beat the field in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Senior Alex Bader finished first in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Dow and the Baders joined Elizabeth McDowell to win the 200 medley relay and teamed with Vivienne Kunkler for a victory in the 200 freestyle relay.
In the boys’ meet, Garrett Campbell had wins in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. He was also part of the 200 freestyle relay with Tayler Smeltzer, Chase McFarland and Skyler Myers that was first.
SA girls edge Cadets
BERNE — The South Adams girls swim team edged the Concordia Lutheran Cadets on Tuesday, 93-86.
The boys fell 124-57.
Ashley LeFever was the only dual winner for South Adams, as she placed first in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races. Olivia Von Gunten and Hannah Neuenschwander each had individual victories. Von Gunten won the 100 butterfly, and Neuenschwander claimed the top spot in the 200 freestyle.
Olivia Von Gunten, Bella Bailey, Ashley LeFever and Isabel Von Gunten teamed for both Starfire relay victories. The quartet won the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
Zach Colpaert had the only two SAHS boys wins as he was first in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle events.
Stars fall to Falcons
BERNE — South Adams’ girls basketball team gave up a two-point halftime lead in a 58-52 loss Tuesday to the Winchester Golden Falcons.
The Starfires (6-3) had an 18-9 lead over the Class 2A No. 7 Golden Falcons (9-1), and pushed the advantage to 24-22 at intermission. Turnovers and foul trouble put South Adams in a bind during the second half, as Winchester took a 38-36 lead after three quarters and put the game out of reach in the final eight minutes
Madi Wurster led the Starfires with her 13-point effort, and Lydia Loshe joined her in double figures with 11 points. Lexi Dellinger contributed nine points, Sydney Pierce chipped in seven points and Kayla LeFever had six points.
The South Adams junior varsity won, 39-25.
Madi Smith led the way with 11 points, as Emilee Myers and Loshe had six points each.
