Historical Museum to have Family Day
Taking Note
Christmas at the Museum activities continue at the Jay County Historical Society Museum in Portland.
Family Day will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. There will be activities and crafts for children, including a scavenger hunt for ornaments.
Santa Claus will be visiting with free pictures taken and entertainment will be provided by Collin Kreigbaum. There will also be refreshments.
Decorated Christmas trees will be on display and monetary donations and items for the Jay County Humane Society will be accepted, including dog and cat food, treats, toys, cat litter, Pine Sol, laundry detergent and old hand and bath towels.
Mrs. Claus to visit
Children are invited to have breakfast with Mrs. Claus from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Geneva Town Hall.
In addition to breakfast, there will be story time, face painting, reindeer food and a special visitor.

Poetry reading
Indiana Poet Laureate Shari Wagner will honor the legacy of Levi and Catherine Coffin on Saturday with the event Awake to the World: A Poetry Reading.
The reading will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Interpretive Center, Levi and Catherine Coffin State Historic Site, located at 201 U.S. 27 in Fountain City.
Featured poets Angela Jackson-Brown, Muncie; JL Kato, Beech Grove; Linda Neal Reising and Jessica D. Thompson, both of New Harmony, will share poems related to social and environmental justice.
Tours of the Coffin House will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Express enrollment
Ivy Tech Community College in Muncie will offer express enrollment this month.
It will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 and 21.
Students will be helped with applying for admission, new student orientation, learning about ACCUPLACER, financial aid opportunities, meeting with academic advisors and registering for classes.
