Rear-ended
Two vehicles were involved in a rear end accident in Portland on Saturday afternoon.
Matthew J. Kellogg, 36, Huntington, was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Meridian and Lafayette street when Korbyn C. Diehm, 30, Kendallville, came up behind him in his 2015 Volkswagen Passat. Diehm applied the brakes and slid on the ice, causing his vehicle to hit the rear of Kellogg’s 2007 Toyota Corolla.
Damage in the 4:09 p.m. accident was was estimated under $1,000.
Three-vehicle collision
A three-vehicle accident occurred Friday in Portland.
Laura L. Fortkamp, 25, Fort Recovery, told police she was traveling east in her 2013 Ford Fusion on Water Street in Portland when a glare from the sun hit her eyes. She attempted to pull the visor down in her vehicle so she could see and while doing so hit the rear of a 2007 Chrysler Sebring driven by Robert E. Moran, 72, Portland. Moran’s vehicle then collided with the rear of a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Gerald R. Hoffman Jr., 25, Muncie.
The Silverado is registered to Steven E. Schwieterman, Portland.
Damage in the 3:13 p.m. accident was estimated at $5,000 to $10,000.
Lost control
A Portland woman was involved in an accident Saturday evening.
Lana D. Wheeler, 60, was traveling east on county road 200 South just west of Blaine Pike when she lost control of her 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. She hit a pole, causing her vehicle to come to a stop.
Damage in the 6:30 p.m. accident was estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.
Lost traction
A Fort Recovery woman lost control of her vehicle on an icy road Sunday evening.
Emily M. Bihn, 22, was traveling east on county road 400 South when she lost traction on the icy road, causing her to loose control of the Ford F150 she was driving. The vehicle, registered to Greg M. Fisher, left the roadway, striking a mailbox and concrete post.
Estimated damage from the 9:18 p.m. accident was $5,000 to $10,000.
