Kenneth Griffith, age 69, a resident of Portland, passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017 at Chalet Village in Berne, Indiana. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1966-1972. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland and worked many years with the church food bank. He was also a member of the Portland Evening Optimist Club. He loved classic cars and attended many car shows in the area. He retired after several years as a jail officer with the Jay County Sheriff’s Office.
Kenneth Griffith was born May 8, 1948, in Angola, Indiana, the son of Chester and Clara (Grandstaff) Griffith. He was married on November 29, 1969, to Sharon Teeters.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Griffith; two sons, Kenneth Griffith II (wife: Tricia), Centreville, Michigan, and Kyle Griffith (wife: Belinda), Lake Worth, Florida; two daughters, Kristi Betts (husband: Dr. Eric), Portland, Indiana, and Kari Guntle (husband: Jared), Portland, Indiana; three brothers, Curt Griffith and Dennis Griffith, both of Phoenix, Arizona, and Billy Griffith, Sturgis, Michigan; two sisters, Marcinda Parks, Tennessee, and Vonna Graham, Warner Robbins, Georgia; six grandchildren, Rebekah and Hannah Griffith, Cayden, Alison and Abigail Betts, and Sean Guntle.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home. Pastor Don Zlaty will officiate the services.
