Santa to visit on Saturday
Taking Note
Everyone’s favorite jolly ol’ elf will visit Jay County Public Library on Saturday.
Santa will visit with children from 10 a.m. to noon at the library, 315 N. Ship St. in Portland.
The visit is sponsored by Jay County Chamber of Commerce.
Tree festival
The 13th Annual Fort Festival of Trees is being held through Dec. 30 at Fort Recovery Public Library.
Trees and wreaths are on display and visitors can vote for the People’s Choice Award.
The event is sponsored by Friends of the Library. The library is located at 113 N. Wayne St. in downtown Fort Recovery.
Museum Christmas
Christmas at the Museum continues at the Jay County Historical Society.
An open house will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. More than 20 decorated trees will be on display throughout the museum and refreshments will be served.
Monetary donations and items for the Jay County Humane Society will be accepted, including dog and cat food, treats, toys, cat litter, Pine Sol, laundry detergent and old hand and bath towels.
Give life
The American Red Cross is asking the community to give the gift of blood this Christmas season.
A blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Adams Memorial Hospital, 1100 Mercer Ave. in Decatur. To make an appointment download the Red Cross Blood Donor app, visit redcrossblood.org or call 800-733-2767.

The Jay County Public Library’s Food for Fines project was a success. Patrons donated food in exchange for waiving overdue fines. More than $1,000 of fines were forgiven and food was donated to the Helping Hand Food Pantry in Portland.
