FORT RECOVERY — Renna Schwieterman carried the Chiefs to another victory.
Schwieterman poured in 19 points on Monday, guiding the East Jay Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team to a 39-7 drubbing of Fort Recovery.
East Jay’s eighth grade team held off the Indians for a 29-27 victory.
Lydia Keihn contributed 10 points in support of Schwieterman as East Jay improved to 8-1 on the season. Olivia Waters chipped in six points as Laci McGinnis and Eden Abshire both had two points.
Madison Dirksen scored 12 points to lead the eighth graders squad, which moved to 5-4. Heaven Hambrock tallied eight points, Andrea Jutte scored four points and Rachel Muhlenkamp finished with three points.
Stats for Fort Recovery were not provided.
Eagle 7th wins
MUNCIE — West Jay’s seventh grade girls basketball team picked up a 23-15 victory over the Northside Titans on Monday.
The eighth grade Eagles fell 37-31.
Grace Shimp led West Jay with seven points, and Taylor Brown was second on the team with six points. Gabi Bilbrey followed with five points, and Abbie Field contributed four points. Paige Gillette had one free throw.
Isabel Rodgers had a team-best 17 points for the WJMS eighth grade squad. Kaelyn Denney joined her in double figures with 10 points, and Fields had four points.
Stars swept
COLDWATER, Ohio — The South Adams seventh and eighth grade basketball teams got swept by the Coldwater Cavaliers on Monday.
The eighth grade squad fell 67-39, and the seventh graders lost 57-28.
Trey Schoch led the eighth grade squad (7-2) with 20 points, and Aidan Wanner finished with seven points to go with his team-high six rebounds. Kaleb Stevens and Jordan Hinshaw finished with five and four points, respectively.
Matt Steiner’s 13 points were tops on the team for the seventh graders (5-4). Hunter Kongar contributed six points as Kyle Minger chipped in four points.
