Deer hit
Several accidents involving deer occurred Friday in Jay County.
The first accident was at 7:40 a.m. when Thomas M. Yvonne, 65, Portland, was driving west on county road 550 South. A deer ran into the roadway and Yvonne could not avoid hitting it with his 2009 Volkswagen JTD.
The second accident occurred at 5:32 p.m. Larry D. Nuckols Jr., 48, Portland, was driving south on Como Road near New Mount Pleasant Road when a deer entered the roadway. He could not avoid hitting the animal with his 2005 Chevrolet Equinox.
The last accident, at 6:55 p.m., happened when Jasmine K. Bechtol, 23, Fort Recovery, was traveling east on Indiana 26 near county road 300 East in her 2013 Ford Fusion. A deer ran onto the road and she could not avoid striking it with the vehicle.
Damage in each accident was estimated between $1,000 to $2,500.
