Fort boys top Trojans

ARCANUM, Ohio — The Trojans’ got hot from the outside in the second quarter.

The Juttes calmed them down in the second half.

Derek Jutte had eight points in the third quarter and Payton Jutte did most of his damage in the fourth as the Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team overcame a nine-point halfitme deficit to beat the Arcanum Trojans, 52-43 on Saturday.

The Trojans made five 3-pointers in the second quarter, turning a 12-6 deficit into a 27-18 lead at halftime. But Derek Jutte made a pair of three points and scored eight of his 10 points in the third quarter, and Payton Jutte scored 10 of his 13 points in the fourth period to give the Indians (5-2) the victory.

Ryan Braun scored 12 points, nine of which came in the opening quarter, and Cade Wendel contributed eight points. Blayne Tobe chipped in six points, and shared the team-high of six rebounds with Payton Jutte. Grant Knapke, Braun and Wendel added five rebounds each.

The Tribe’s junior varsity team won 56-32. Ian Homan and Brian Bihn had 15 and 12 points respectively for the Indians.



Tribe girls win

FORT RECOVERY — A hot start, a strong finish and balanced scoring attack led the Fort Recovery girls basketball team to a 53-43 victory Saturday over Arcanum at Fort Site Fieldhouse.

The Indians (5-1) led 16-9 after the first quarter and took a 22-17 lead into halftime. The Trojans closed the gap to three, 33-30, after three periods of play before Fort Recovery had a 20-13 edge in scoring during the fourth quarter to get the win.

Grace Thien made a trio of 3-pointers on her way to a team-high of 14 points. Kiah Wendel was second on the team with 12 points as Carley Stone and Val Muhlenkamp had 11 points each. Muhlenkamp hauled in eight rebounds, while Olivia Patch grabbed five boards.
