Christmas is over, but it’s no reason to get the winter doldrums because there are plenty of activities coming up in January at Jay County Public Library.
There is help for anyone who received a new tablet, phone or laptop for Christmas and may need help using the library’s digital collection.
Stop in between 2 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, for help using online eBooks, digital audios, language classes, car repair database and worldwide recipe collection.
Games are also available at the library for anyone who may have gotten an Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Wii U or PS 4 as a gift.
Bullet Journals 101: Going Analog in a Digital World will also take place on Jan. 13 at 10 a.m.
Participants will get to create a Bullet Journal — a customizable and forgiving organization system that can handle a to-do list, sketchbook, notebook or diary.
Murder in the Escape Room that was to be held in October at JCPL has been rescheduled for 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20. The challenge will be to solve a timed mystery in a room filled with puzzles, riddles and codes.
Reservations for individuals or teams can be made by calling the library at (260) 726-7890 between Jan. 8 and 15. Those who had reservations in October will get first choice.
Julayne Ross from Jay County Hospital will speak at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, about understanding vitamins and supplements.
Clubs meeting in January at the library include Cookbook Club at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8. The club is teaming with Adair Processing to teach how to make homemade jerky at home in the oven.
JayCPL Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, to discuss “Running for My Life” by Lopez Momong.
Hook & Needles Club will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Start out the New Year by starting a new project or technique. Bring a project or learn how to crochet from one of the crafters.
Writers Guild will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29.
The Annual Friends Membership Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16. There will be election of officers and approval of the 2018 budget. Anyone who is interested in becoming a Friend is welcome to attend.
There are plenty of activities for children this month as well.
Story & Fun Time will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, 15, 22 and 29 and Tuesday, Jan. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 and Mother Goose will visit at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 12, 19 and 26.
Lego Challenge will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25.
Kids will enjoy visiting the website SnowCrystals.com to find out all about snow crystals and snowflakes and to do fun activities.
Books were donated to the library in December.
